Hey y'all, I am Jess (aka the Outspoken Baker). If you know me personally, then you know that the name is fitting. I was born in Texas with a firecracker personality, and I developed a love for all things culinary at an early age. Being someone who is outspoken and often goes against the grain, I'm not going to win any popularity contests. That is for certain.
I wouldn't know until later in life why God made me this way, as it was often a point of insecurity, yet something I struggled to control. Though I love to speak my mind, words of affirmation have never quite been a love language I could master. Instead, I show my love for others via food & acts of service! Most of my life I have been nudged to open some sort of a eatery/bakery, ect. However, I never felt the calling until now... Here is our story.
I am the mother to a beautiful little girl (Rheaden) and identical twin boys (Rhyatt and Revan). Those three blessings are truly some of the happiest kids I have ever met. My mama heart knew when something had changed in my boys. After their 1 yr well visit, their lights started to dim. Overnight, they had lost all verbal skills. For over three years, I had been begging & pleading for answers as to how this happened as well as ways to best support them. Every doctors visit was met with "they will in their own time" or just entirely brushed off because of how happy and "healthy" they were. Yet here we were with two entirely non verbal boys with an aray of issues that did not make sense. This was when I knew why God made me "Outspoken". It was time to fight, and fight hard for my little guys. This year at 4.5 yrs old we received their bittersweet diagnosis of being Level 3 globally autistic with little to no likelihood of autonomy. Whew, that is hard to even type without tears... BUT OUR GOD IS BIGGER. We know the power of healing & we are ensuring our faith is backed by our work to help our boys succeed.
This diagnosis launched my deep dive into ways that I could best support my boys. How we could give the twins the best resources and opportunities for them to be able to live their best lives. Whatever that may look like. We have been blessed with an incredible village, and have been able to link with other mamas in similar situations. Through research and relationships, it is clear that diet heavily impacts those on the spectrum. We needed to remove as many chemicals, dyes, and processed foods out of their diet as possible. It is almost impossible to find clean foods without an abundance of all those unnecessary additives. When you do find them, they are almost certainly unaffordable.
This was when I knew why God gave me an eclectic skillset in the kitchen. I began making everything for my boys - cookies, goldfish, cheeze-its, cereals, peanut butter, bread, homemade chips, and the list goes on. In less than 3 months, we saw significant improvement. God started calling, and I knew I needed to help others as well.
My mission is not only to provide affordable options for a wide variety of delectables but to also offer dye free options and cater to aversions those on the spectrum may have. Everyone deserves to be treated and parents deserve to have affordable options. I am excited to serve you and I hope you will stick around as our story continues.
